CIE or Clinical Intelligence Engine is an AI and ML based
clinical decision support system that is built to assist the
doctors in leveraging healthcare data, technology and clinical
expertise to solve most common to rare diseases. The tool
assists both patients and doctors in managing health conditions
with actionable recommendations.
CIE has analysed and learnt from millions of patients’ health
records from Apollo’s 40 years of clinical data to provide
contextual, personalised health information with actionable
insights to doctors, helping them deliver accurate diagnosis for
improved quality of care.
CIE helps patients in two ways: when doctors use CIE for
consultation, it helps them report all the important information
to the doctor and provide critical analysis upfront for decision
support. When patients use this tool to understand their own
symptoms, it helps them discover the conditions that are causing
the symptoms and seek appropriate care.
CIE covers over 95% of everyday cases in primary care. The CIE
has over 1200 conditions and 800 symptoms in its vocabulary. CIE
is built on the expertise of 6000+ doctors, using millions of
real world clinical data points.
The doctors can use CIE in their everyday OP practice to get
real time assistance to analyse their patient’s case and get
relevant clinical suggestions. Doctors can simply enter all
clinically relevant information of their patient (such as
demographic details, symptoms, medical history, etc) into the
decision support tool. The tool will then automatically analyse
the clinical information through the standard clinical inquiry
process to determine the most appropriate causes of the reported
symptom. Based on the above analysis, clinical suggestions such
as Differential Diagnosis (DDx), lab & imaging recommendations,
and referral specialty are generated.
The brain of the CIE is its Reasoning Engine which is aware of a
patient's profile and clinical context such as symptoms and past
history. It analyses all the clinical parameters to arrive at a
differential diagnosis and its probabilities. Doctors can get
this analysis and diagnosis suggestions in real time by
interacting with the tool.
CIE is learning to handle complex cases involving multiple
co-morbidities. With your interactions and feedback, it will
continuously improve its clinical vocabulary and accuracy. Just
like with real world doctors, reporting symptoms randomly
without a connection to a chief complaint will lead to a long
enquiry process and possibly incorrect diagnosis.
No. The CIE is meant to assist doctors with case analysis based
on reported symptoms, reduce operational tasks, and improve
quality of clinical interaction and care with your patient.
